Last July 23,2012, President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his third State Of the Nation Address(SONA). Again, promises for the betterment of our country and his yearly reports straight from Malacanang Palace.
His priorities are concerned to education, conservation for the environment, increase of the employment rate, benefits for Filipino citizens, and renewal of projects formerly launched.
to be more specific, the following are some of the highlights of the said SONA:
-1.5 million hectares of trees to be planted in 2016
-old-aged and disabled pensioners will receive 5,000 pesos per month
-protection of sovereignty and territorial authority
-DOST/PAGASA Project NOAH improved
-the Philippines is expected to export rice in 2013
-1,520 sitios have been provided with electricity within 90 days
-target of 4.16 million tourists for 2012
-responsible parenthood bill
-more than 30,000 nurses deployed to 36,000 barangays
-free education to 4.57 million students
-taxes on cigarettes and liquors
-3.1 million jobs were created
-executive order in mining cited
As a student, I was delighted for the plan of our president for every Filipino student with his or her own book and chair. Also, I was convinced that the crime rate in our country was lessen. The Filipino citizens were given jobs. The rice shortage is expected to be washed away.
This is now the third time he made a promise. Some maybe were implemented and being a benefit for majority of us. While some are still future projects and I am waiting to be pursued. The Filipinos listened to him and are expecting for a change in our present administration.
The journey for the "daang matuwid" is still on its process. A continuous travel for the progress and as he said "forgive and forget" for the past administrations. "kayo ang boss ko" will always be remembered but what are his projects to be recognized? It is up for us to discover...
